Scottish Premiership giants Rangers are reportedly prepared to demand up to £20 million (approximately N36.3 billion in Nigerian currency) for Nigeria international Emmanuel Fernandez, as interest in the highly-rated centre-back intensifies ahead of the summer transfer window.
Fernandez, who arrived at Ibrox last summer, has quickly established himself as a key figure despite initial skepticism surrounding his signing.
The 24-year-old has delivered a series of commanding performances at the heart of Rangers’ defence, playing a crucial role in the club’s resurgence in the title race after a difficult start to the season.
Beyond his defensive contributions, Fernandez has also impressed offensively, scoring six goals in 28 appearances across all competitions.
His form has attracted attention from top European clubs, with Premier League sides Arsenal and West Ham United reportedly monitoring his progress.
According to reports from Football Insider, Rangers are open to a potential sale but will only sanction his departure if their £20 million valuation is met.
However, the club’s stance could shift depending on the outcome of the league campaign, with Rangers reluctant to entertain offers should they secure the Scottish Premiership title and qualification for the UEFA Champions League.
Fernandez’s outstanding debut campaign has also translated onto the international stage.
He recently earned his first call-up to the Nigerian national team and made an immediate impact, debuting against Iran before scoring his first international goal on his full debut against Jordan.
His rapid rise was further recognized with a place in the Scottish Premiership Team of the Season.
