Peterborough United forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan has been sent back to Chelsea in a bid to get to the bottom of an injury issue.

Morgan has now missed Posh’s last two games with an unspecified issue after sitting out Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Burton Albion.

After the defeat at Port Vale, Posh boss Williams refused to call the problem and injury but with Morgan still unable to play, he has been sent back to parent club Chelsea for tests and to help find a diagnosis.

Morgan has been present at the stadium for the last two matches and is the club’s second highest scorer in League One this season with 12 goals, two behind Harry Leonard.

Williams said: “He’s struggling with one problem. He has some pain when he’s tested and that’s an indicator that something is wrong.

“He’s been back to Chelsea and had an MOT there and there is some small problem there but it is not too terrible but unfortunately he can’t play at the moment.”

Williams then said there had been no update on Ben Woods. On Thursday night, he has said there there was hope he would be available for Sunday but this did not materialise.

Woods has now missed three matches after making his return from a near three-month absence with against Cardiff at the start of April. Williams has previously said that game “knocked the stuffing out of him.”
