Arsenal showing 'most concrete interest' in signing £52m UCL winner - report

Eduardo Camavinga France Real Madrid

Arsenal are showing the ‘most concrete interest’ in signing Eduardo Camavinga from Real Madrid next summer, according to CaughtOffside.

Since joining from Rennes in the summer of 2021 as an exciting teenager, Camavinga has developed into an important figure at Madrid, playing a key role in their two Champions League and La Liga title triumphs.

Across his time at the club, the 23-year-old has featured in 217 matches and contributed to 17 goals, with most of his appearances coming in midfield, although he has also been utilised at left-back on several occasions and can even operate in more advanced positions on the left flank.

Despite remaining a valuable part of the squad, uncertainty surrounds his future due to limited playing time, with Alvaro Arbeloa favouring academy prospect Thiago Pitarch in the pecking order.

In addition, inconsistent displays highlighted by his disappointing cameo against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League, where he was sent off, have further dampened his chances of featuring more prominently in the squad.

As such, he is expected to consider the prospect of regular playing time elsewhere, and interest is beginning to grow ahead of the summer.

Among the clubs looking to sign Camavinga, CaughtOffside reports that Arsenal are showing the ‘most concrete interest’ in signing the midfielder.

While no concrete offer has been submitted, the Premier League has been earmarked as the Frenchman’s possible next destination, with Madrid expected to demand a £52m fee amid interest from the Gunners, the report adds.

However, the North London club face stern competition for his signature as CaughtOffside claims that Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona are also in the race to sign the France international next summer.

Arsenal’s title hopes were struck with a major setback after Erling Haaland inspired Manchester City to a 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.

The defeat means the Gunners have not only ended their five-match unbeaten streak against the Cityzens, but they’ve now lost two consecutive Premier League games for the first time since December 2023.

Despite the result in Manchester, this was Arsenal’s best performance in a long while, and they’ll be gutted to travel back home without at least earning a point.
