Roy Keane makes bold Premier League prediction on Arsenal after Man City loss

Manchester United legend Roy Keane has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League despite a 2-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium yesterday.

The Gunners suffered a big setback in their title pursuit after a disappointing defeat to the Cityzens on the road. Erling Haaland scored the winner for the Cityzens shortly after the hour mark.

Arsenal had plenty of chances of their own in the final third. Kai Havertz squandered two golden chances, while Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes hit the woodwork during the second half.

The Gunners lacked good fortune in a crucial title contest. If Arsenal and Man City were to win their remaining matches, the league could be decided on goal difference at the end of the season.

Despite this, Keane has reiterated that he is backing the Gunners to lift the title and has refused to change his stance, even though Pep Guardiola’s side have their title destiny in their hands again.

He told Sky Sports: “I don’t care. I am going to stick with Arsenal, of course, I am going to stick with them. No doubt the belief is not as strong as it was before the game, obviously City have got the momentum, but I am going to have to stick with Arsenal because I called them at the start of the season.”

Man City face Burnley on the road in the league on Wednesday night. A 1-0 victory would see them jump to the top of the table on goals scored with another five matches left in the campaign.

However, the Cityzens will surely aim to boost their goal difference over the Gunners. Arsenal, on the other hand, need to win their final five games to have any chance of lifting the league.

On current form, Man City seem on course to sustain their winning streak. Arsenal have better fixtures on paper, but they must now start winning games, combined with scoring plenty of goals.

Back in 2023/24, the Gunners had a stellar scoring run with some big margin victories, and have to replicate the feat in order to end their two-decade-long wait for the English crown.
