Chelsea want to sell £40m signing after less than a year because it's not working out

There is an acceptance among the Stamford Bridge hierarchy the £40m signing of Garnacho is not working out.

Chelsea's stance represents a staggering fall in grace for Garnacho given he only joined the club last August.

The Argentinian arrived at Stamford Bridge from Manchester United, where he had showed plenty of promise but was deemed unsuitable for then-manager Ruben Amorim's rigid tactical structure.

But since moving, the 21-year-old has struggled to live up to his price tag.

Although he has eight goals and four assists across all competitions for the Blues this term, only five goal contributions have come in the Premier League.

Additionally, four of his goals were spread across FA Cup and League Cup fixtures against Wrexham, Port Vale and Cardiff City, who are all in divisions lower than Chelsea.

Chelsea's brutal stance on Garnacho comes just days after he struggled against his former employers in a 1-0 defeat last Saturday.

He began the contest on the bench but had to come in the 16th minute after Estevao went down with a hamstring injury.

Unfortunately Garnacho would not get the last laugh over United, as Matheus Cunha's strike proved to be the difference.

If the result wasn't brutal enough, Garnacho appeared to be mocked by former Red Devils teammate Luke Shaw on social media following the game.

Shaw uploaded a carousel of images celebrating the win, but the first image he shared was one of the left-back pushing Garnacho to the ground.

A number of Red Devils stars added their voices to the mockery in the comments section underneath Shaw's post.

United skipper Bruno Fernandes, who delivered a man-of-the-match display, shared a GIF that included in the text: "That's a violation."

Centre-back Ayden Heaven shared a GIF relating to firing shots at the Chelsea winger and out-of-favour attacker Joshua Zirkzee commented: "Nice one mate."

Shaw even liked a comment from social media sensation and devoted United supporter Angry Ginge that said, 'Who's that **** from Argentina?', in reference to a chant towards Garnacho.
