Rangers have beaten off interest from Premier League giants to sign highly-rated youngster Ashton Scally.

The young Ibrox left-back was being chased by Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Spurs.

But Record Sport understands that after nine months of groundwork by the club’s hierarchy, he’s agreed to sign his first professional contract with Gers.

Scally is regarded as one of the most prodigious talents in Scotland and the best to come through the Auchenhowie academy in recent years.

The kid, who only turned 16 on Saturday, was included in Danny Rohl’s first-team squad in Spain for their warm-weather training camp ahead of the Premiership title run-in.

And he’s now set to commit his future to Rangers by penning a three-year deal, despite a host of offers from England and abroad.

Rangers youngster Ashton Scally

Ashton is the son of former Ayr and Falkirk player - and current Clyde assistant boss - Neil Scally.

He’s already a Scotland youth international and has featured for Gers’ Under-19 side.

By agreeing on a first pro deal at Ibrox, he’ll follow in the footsteps of team-mate Kyle Glasgow who also rejected interest from elsewhere to stay at Rangers.

Glasgow has featured for Scotland and Portugal at youth level and is another the club has high hopes for in the future.

Both Gers youngsters have already trained with Rohl’s first-team squad and see a clear pathway to make a breakthrough.
