'Personal terms' - Liverpool & Arsenal on alert as Sky Sport make fresh Newcastle United…

Newcastle United transfers: Anthony Gordon’s absence and fresh reports from Sky Sport further fuelled the speculation surrounding the winger’s future.

Newcastle United top scorer Anthony Gordon missed Saturday’s 2-1 Premier League defeat against AFC Bournemouth due to an injury reported by the club.

Gordon has scored 17 goals in all competitions for the Magpies this season, including 10 in the Champions League. It has been the forward’s best scoring campaign of his career yet Newcastle’s season has been largely frustrating and underwhelming on the pitch.

The Bournemouth loss was Newcastle’s 15th in the league this season and leaves them sitting 14th with five games left to play.

Anthony Gordon injury ‘confirmed’

Gordon’s absence against the Cherries drew more attention as it came just a day after Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe claimed that he would only play players who are ‘100% committed’ to the club.

But after the Bournemouth loss, Howe was asked whether he could ‘kill any questions on how committed’ Gordon is.

“Absolutely,” the Newcastle boss responded. “Today was an injury. He went for a scan on, again, I think it was Thursday morning, and it was clear he had an injury that would take him out of the game.”

Next up for Newcastle is a trip to Arsenal on Saturday (5:30pm kick-off). The Gunners are one of the clubs Gordon has been strongly linked with ahead of the summer transfer window.

And when asked if the England international could be back at the Emirates Stadium this weekend, Howe added: “We're unclear. I don't think it's a long-term injury, whether he makes it next week, I don't know. We'll have to see how he goes this week in training.”

Fresh Anthony Gordon transfer claims after NUFC absence - ‘personal terms are not an issue’

Following Gordon’s absence against Bournemouth, Sky Sport Germany’s Florian Plettenberg delivered a fresh transfer update regarding Bayern Munich’s interest in the Newcastle star.

It is claimed a summer exit for Gordon is ‘realistic’ and is a ‘top target’ for the Bundesliga side.

“FC Bayern aren’t giving up on Anthony Gordon because there’s a realistic chance he could move this summer,” Plettenberg reported. “He is their top target for the left wing, as revealed.

“Personal terms are not an issue - the key factor is reaching an agreement with Newcastle. Arsenal and Liverpool are also interested. NUFC Gordon was not in the squad vs Bournemouth.”

Bayern’s interest will have Arsenal and Gordon’s boyhood club Liverpool on alert as they eye up a potential summer move for the Newcastle forward.
