‘A player like that could suit Arsenal’Gunners board told to sign South American star

Former Manchester United and Bayern Munich midfielder Owen Hargreaves has once again stoked transfer speculation surrounding Arsenal, publicly urging the Premier League leaders to pursue Como standout Nico Paz in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Hargreaves, who has been working as a pundit for TNT Sports, identified the 22-year-old Argentine as a player who could greatly enhance Arsenal’s creative firepower ahead of the 2026–27 season.

Speaking on air, Hargreaves praised Paz’s technical ability and potential, insisting that the attacking midfielder/forward — who has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Serie A side Como — possesses the qualities to thrive at the highest level. Asked about possible Arsenal summer signings, Hargreaves said on TNT Sports: ‘There’s a young lad at Como, Nico Paz.

‘There’s an option for him to go back to Real Madrid but if I’m *ARSENAL*… This kid – you’ll see him at the World Cup. Mikel Arteta will already know that this boy will be a star and if you don’t ask you don’t get.

‘A player like that could suit Arsenal.’

Paz, an ex-Real Madrid youth product, has been one of the revelations in Italian football this season, contributing goals and assists from advanced midfield and forward positions in Serie A. His recent form has reportedly attracted interest from multiple clubs across Europe, including Premier League rivals and continental heavyweights.

Despite a buy-back clause previously held by Real Madrid — which was not activated last summer — interest in Paz’s services has continued to grow, with Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur among the clubs linked with potential moves.

Chelsea, in particular, were reported to have lodged an official enquiry as part of their long-term recruitment plans, while Tottenham were said to have had a bid rejected for the Argentine

For Arsenal, the push from Hargreaves comes at a time when the club’s attacking options have been scrutinised. Although ARSENAL sit clear at the top of the Premier League and remain in contention on multiple fronts, depth and creativity in the final third have been recurring talking points among pundits and supporters alike. Adding a dynamic young talent like Paz could address those concerns and provide Arteta with tactical flexibility.

Paz’s versatility — able to operate centrally, as a creative midfielder or in more advanced positions — makes him an intriguing target for clubs looking to blend youthful exuberance with technical quality.

As the summer window approaches, Arsenal’s recruitment strategy is expected to focus on bolstering areas of the squad that will sustain title challenges domestically and in Europe
