Liam Rosenior delivers injury update on Chelsea quartet including Estevao and Levi Colwill

With Liam Rosenior coming under increasing pressure, Chelsea’s clash against Brighton has become a massive game, and Rosenior has now provided an injury update.

Chelsea go to Brighton, Rosenior’s old side on Tuesday night. The Blues gaffer played for the Seagulls on 50 occasions, and then entered the world of coaching as Brighton’s U23 assistant manager before Derby.

Rosenior now returns to Brighton with a clear task ahead. Chelsea have to win to put an end to a dismal run of six defeats in seven games, which has left Chelsea’s Champions League hopes dead in the water.

The last three matches against Brighton have ended in a Seagulls win, typical given the number of players Chelsea have signed from Brighton. One of those, Joao Pedro, is a doubt for Tuesday night’s fixture.

Rosenior delivers injury update on quartet including Estevao

On Saturday night, Pedro was a surprise absentee from the side and it saw Liam Delap start. There is hope that his groin problem is only minor, and he will be available to play against Brighton tomorrow night.

Then, there is Estevao and Enzo Fernandez, both of whom were subbed off due to injuries on Saturday. Estevao was in tears on Saturday and Fernandez asked to go off, having sustained a knock late on.

Now, Rosenior has spoken on those three players, as well as defender Levi Colwill on Monday afternoon. He said: “Joao will be a late call. He was on the pitch today, we will make a decision tomorrow morning.

“Este is definitely out for tomorrow. We are doing further tests. Enzo is absolutely fine. Very hopefully, yes, we can see him before the end of the season. He played 60 minutes which is a very good start for him.”

Plenty of decisions to be made ahead of the trip then, with Chelsea also missing Jamie Gittens, Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James and Filip Jorgensen. Rosenior may be forced into a midfield reshuffle.
