German Ace’s£52M Move To Premier League Deemed‘Realistic’With Newcastle United Involved In 3 Club Battle

Newcastle United are one of three Premier League clubs interested in signing Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, according to reports in the German media.

Fussballdaten.de claim that a €60m (£52m) to €65m (£57m) move to England is a “realistic scenario” this summer.

The Magpies are said to be keeping a close eye on Adeyemi as they see him as part of their “next gen project”. Eddie Howe’s team are expected to drastically overhaul the first-team squad at the end of the season, with the winger among their targets.

However, Manchester United are expected to be one of the biggest rivals for his signature, with the Red Devils having placed him “top” of their shortlist to strengthen their forward line.

Chelsea are also believed to be in the mix, having close contact with their agents, but they are deemed the least likely destination due to the sheer number of left-footed forwards they already have in their squad.

Dortmund are willing to sell Adeyemi

Up until recently, it was thought that the German international’s club were looking to hold out for a fee close to €70m (£61m), but their position has been weakened by a couple of factors.

Adeyemi’s contract expires at the end of next season, so requesting a high transfer fee is not on the table. The player also has a rocky relationship with head coach Niko Kovac, and that could hasten his exit from Signal Iduna Park.

Who would he replace in Newcastle United’s squad?

Adeyemi can play as a striker or as a right winger, so his arrival would raise questions about the futures of several stars, including Anthony Elanga, Nick Woltemade and even Anthony Gordon.

The first two have struggled since signing for big fees last year, while Gordon has been heavily linked with Arsenal and other teams.
