Michael Carrick’s Manchester United are celebrating a major victory against Chelsea.
The celebrations at the final whistle at Stamford Bridge highlighted how important Manchester United’s 1-0 win was.
The victory extended the gap to 10 points over Chelsea, making it almost certain Manchester United will qualify for the Champions League.
Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior has plenty to stew on, after being defeated by a man he tipped for the very top eight years ago.

Liam Rosenior predicted Michael Carrick success
Liam Rosenior and Michael Carrick have both been on a journey in their post-playing careers, now reaching the top level in management.
Rosenior was appointed by Chelsea in January as a replacement for Enzo Maresca, while Carrick was hired as United interim boss following Ruben Amorim’s exit.
Back in 2018, Rosenior wrote an article for The Guardian paying tribute to Michael Carrick’s playing career, arguing that he was one of the most under-appreciated players of his era.

Rosenior argued that England managers failed to appreciate Carrick’s qualities, claiming the Manchester United midfielder would have had more international caps if he had been Spanish or Italian.
He also went on to tip Carrick for a successful managerial career.
Rosenior wrote: “I’ve never had the opportunity to discuss football with Michael Carrick but I feel that this is not the end of his outstanding career in the game but the beginning of another amazing one.
“The statement made by Jose Mourinho that after the end of this season he expects Carrick to join Manchester United’s coaching staff was no shock.
“If he displays in his new coaching role his football intelligence and technical understanding in the way he did as a player I wouldn’t be surprised to see him develop top young players and then coach or manage at the very top.”
This prediction has now come back to haunt Rosenior at the ‘very top’, with Carrick’s Manchester United winning an important game with huge implications for the Premier League table.
Wow! This proves it is all about taking your chances!

Carrick and Rosenior had history
Michael Carrick and Liam Rosenior actually faced each other in the Championship as managers.
This was during Carrick’s stint at Middlesbrough, while Rosenior was manager at Hull City.
Rosenior won one, Carrick won one, and the third result was a draw.
Now in the Premier League, Carrick has won the only meeting between the managers so far.
