Arsenal have been dealt a significant setback in their reported interest in Francesco Pio Esposito, with the striker now firmly focused on continuing his development at Inter Milan.
The 20-year-old forward has emerged as one of the most promising young talents in Italy this season, attracting attention from several European clubs including Arsenal.
However, any hopes of a potential move to North London appear to have been shut down by both the player’s camp and Inter’s hierarchy.
Esposito’s agent, Mario Giuffredi, made his position clear while speaking at a recent event, insisting that the striker has no interest in leaving San Siro.
“He’s happy at Inter,” Giuffredi said, before adding that both player and club are aligned in their long-term vision.
“I think the boy and the club want to stay together for the next 10 years,” he continued, underlining the strength of the relationship between Esposito and Inter.
Giuffredi also dismissed any speculation around a summer transfer, stating that a move would only be considered if Inter themselves changed their stance.
“Thinking about the transfer market for him… unless it’s Inter’s wish, it’s not my wish or the boy’s,” he said.
“For me, the transfer market for Pio Esposito has never started and never will,” Giuffredi added, reinforcing the player’s commitment to his current club.
Inter have echoed that position at executive level, with chief executive Giuseppe Marotta also moving to downplay links with Arsenal.
“Arsenal haven’t asked us,” Marotta stated, before stressing that the club have no intention of selling one of their brightest academy products.
He described Esposito as “a treasure of ours,” highlighting his development through the youth system and his importance to the club’s future.
Marotta also suggested that any discussion around a potential transfer would only take place in the distant future, effectively closing the door on immediate interest.
Esposito’s rise this season has only strengthened Inter’s stance, with the striker delivering impressive performances across domestic and European competitions.
The Italy youth international has scored 12 goals for club and country, exceeding expectations after stepping up from Serie B level.
His rapid adaptation to top-flight football has been seen internally as proof of both his talent and his readiness to contribute at the highest level.
For Arsenal, the development represents a clear obstacle in their pursuit of elite young talent, particularly as the club continue to prioritise recruitment of emerging prospects across Europe.
Despite their long-standing interest, any move for Esposito now appears highly unlikely unless Inter significantly alter their current position.
As things stand, both the player and his club remain fully aligned, with Esposito intent on building his future in Milan rather than seeking a move abroad.
