Former Arsenal star Lauren admits he wants Tottenham to remain in the Premier League - purely so that the Gunners can continue beating them.
Tottenham face the genuine threat of relegation, which would be a huge shock despite their dire season. They've been ever presents in the Premier League but are currently two points adrift of safety and without a win in 2026.
Arsenal have hit eight past Tottenham this season, winning 4-1 home and away. Last season they also did the double over their north London rivals and Lauren has enjoyed seeing his side pick up six points against their neighbours.
The 2004 Invincible insists that, as a fan of his former side, he always looks forward to games against Tottenham and would hate to see that taken away with their relegation. As a result he's hoping they can mount a late season charge to safety.
The 49-year-old told The Sun: “As an Arsenal fan there is a game we want to see every single season and that is the North London Derby against Tottenham.
“It’s good to be playing your biggest rivals every season. I don’t think Tottenham going down would be good news for Arsenal fans or the Premier League in general. It’s good to play them and beat them and I want that to continue. Tottenham relegation would be a big shock to the Premier League but preferably I would see them stay up and we take some points off them again next season.”
Tottenham are onto their third manager as they bid to save their season. They've handed Roberto De Zerbi a lucrative contract as they hope the Italian will inspire some late season form. He's only picked up one point from his opening two games and the threat of a year in the second tier becomes more and more of a reality.

It could end up being a season to forget for both north London clubs with Arsenal in danger of throwing away their lead at the top. Only recently they had a nine point buffer from Manchester City in second, but have lost successive games to open the door for their rivals.
Mikel Arteta faces the possibility of a fourth successive second place finish, but Lauren insists that, despite all the backing he's had, there's no way he gets the boot.
He claimed: “All the talk of Arteta being at risk and Arsenal winning no trophies needs to stop. I don’t think that way, because I think Arsenal are going to win the Premier League. I’m positive, I am confident. Losing against Manchester City has not ended the race for the title. Manchester City weren’t better – they aren’t better – they just took their chances.”
