Hurzeler reveals Dunk decision as he picks team to face Chelsea

And he hinted it is not an automatic call that the skipper comes straight back into his XI.

Dunk has completed a two-game suspension ahead of the Tuesday night Euro six-pointer at the Amex.

But Olivier Boscagli has earned high marks after coming int the back line alongside Jan Paul van Hecke.

Hurzeler also gave a reminder during his Monday morning press conference that Dunk has been troubled by a knee issue.

The head coach said: "It's about putting everything together.

“How he feels, how important he is as captain — and how important it is that we keep having the same players on the pitch to build connections.

“It's very important to make clever decisions.

“We will see how he feels, how he trains and then we will make a decision that is best for everyone, because afterwards we will still have four games to go."

Kaoru Mitoma has been passed fit after his early departure at Spurs.

But Hurzeler might be weighing up whether he makes the XI.

He must find a solution in wide areas after Diego Gomez was ruled out by a knee injury.

One option is Max De Cuyper on the left, combining with Ferdi Kadioglu.

The pair have done that before, most notably in the 2-0 win at Nottingham Forest.

James Milner remains absent and history suggests Danny Welbeck might not start the midweek fixture.

Asked about Welbeck, Hurzeler said: "Let's see, there are always possibilities."

Georginio Rutter could step up after his goal in North London.

Albion possible XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, van Hecke, Boscagli, Kadioglu; Ayari, Gross; Minteh, Hinshelwood, De Cuyper; Welbeck/Rutter.
