Man City boss Pep Guardiola has revealed that Rodri will undergo scans on a groin injury he picked up during the 2-1 win over Arsenal at the weekend.
When asked to give a timescale on when the Spanish international could be back in action, Guardiola replied:
“I don’t know how long Rodri will be out. [It’s the] groin. I think the doctor said but we will see. We will make a test tonight or tomorrow.”

Rodri did not sustain the injury in a challenge, but he dropped to the turf and underwent treatment before being replaced by Nico Gonzalez in the second half on Sunday evening.
The midfielder won’t be back for Man City’s next game
Unless he miraculously recovers in the next couple of days, Rodri will sit out the Premier League fixture against Burnley at Turf Moor on Wednesday night.
It remains to be seen whether the 29-year-old will be available for the FA Cup semi-final against Southampton this weekend either.
Grade 1 groin strains can take one to three weeks to recover from but a serious grade 3 tear would keep Rodri out for months.
Rodri’s injury record this season
The midfielder hasn’t had the best of luck with his fitness recently. After making his comeback from an ACL injury at the end of last campaign, he has suffered five injuries in total.
Rodri initially had problems with his knee, before a hamstring injury kept him on the treatment table for two separate spells at the end of 2025.
To be fair to him, he has been fit and available for the last four months or so, but this latest setback does leave him at risk of missing the rest of the season if it proves to be serious.
