Marli Salmon has signed a pre-agreement for his first professional contract, as confirmed by the club.
The deal will come into effect when he turns 17 on August 29th.
Highly-rated defender Salmon can play at centre-back or right-back and has been close to the first-team throughout the campaign.
Having impressed in pre-season when he was just 15 years old, Salmon has gone on to make four senior appearances for Arsenal this campaign, three of which came in the FA Cup.
He also featured against Club Brugge in the Champions League.
This season Salmon has featured prominently for Arsenal U21s and has frequently captained the team despite being one of the youngest players involved. He has also featured for the U19s in the UEFA Youth League and has been capped by England at U17 level.
Salmon will now be targeting further involvement with the first-team and it wouldn’t be surprising if he was officially promoted to the senior squad in the near future.
He is set to join the likes of Brando Bailey-Joseph, Maalik Hashi, Josiah King and Teshaun Murisa in having signed professional terms from this season’s group of first year scholars.
