Despite this, the team to sensationally win the race could once again be Barcelona. The Catalan club have an automatic one-year renewal clause, but have agreed not to use it due to a gentlemen’s agreement with the player.
Staying put?
Despite this, president Joan Laporta is one of the former Bayern Munich player’s biggest admirers, and among the discussions he is pursuing is a one-year extension until June 2027.
