Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has dismissed intensifying speculation that Argentina winger Alejandro Garnacho could be sold in the upcoming summer transfer window, insisting the club has “no intention whatsoever” of entertaining offers for the rising star.
Reports emerging this week suggested that several top European clubs had registered interest in Garnacho, whose performances at both club and international level have marked him as one of the most exciting young attacking talents in world football.
Rumours also indicated that internal discussions had begun over whether CHELSEA might cash in should a substantial bid arrive. However, Rosenior moved quickly to quash those claims during his pre-match press briefing on Friday, characterising the speculation as “unfounded noise” and reaffirming the winger’s importance to the club’s long-term project.
Rosenior said he was “surprised” by the intensity of the rumours, adding that Garnacho remains central to the club’s plans, Rosenior said: “I’d like to know the source of the report. These reports can come from anywhere. Garna is 21 years old. Garna is someone who has special qualities when he is in a good place and he’s in good form. And my job is to help him reach those levels.”
The 21-year-old, who joined amid significant fanfare,, has featured consistently this season, offering pace, creativity, and a willingness to take on defenders — qualities Rosenior says are “irreplaceable” for his squad.
The growing speculation appears to have been fuelled by reports of interest from clubs in Spain and Italy, with some outlets suggesting Chelsea might consider a sale to free funds for other targets.
But Rosenior dismissed the idea that the club would sacrifice a young, developing star to reshape the squad. “We are planning forward, not backward,” he said. “The best teams keep their best players. That’s exactly what we intend to do.”
Garnacho himself has not commented publicly on the rumours, though sources close to the player say he remains fully focused on finishing the season strongly and earning a place in Argentina’s plans ahead of upcoming international fixtures with Argentina.
As the summer window approaches, Rosenior’s firm stance suggests CHELSEA will hold their ground — and that any club hoping to prise Garnacho away faces a steep uphill battle.
