Over the weekend, Stina Blackstenius was asked about her future at Arsenal given that her contract was set to expire this summer. She said to the reporter, “I’ll leave it unsaid today”.

Today, the club have confirmed a new deal.

Arriving at Arsenal in 2022 from BK Hacken, Blackstenius has scored 64 goals for Arsenal with none more important than the one she scored in Lisbon in May to secure the Champions League for the Gunners.

“There’s really a reason why I’ve been at Arsenal now for four and a half years or whatever, it says something about what I think of the club and how I see the development there,” Blackstenius told fotbollskanalen.

“It’s a very inspiring environment to be in. It’s a very good level that I get to be in daily and I’m inspired by the people I train and play with. I would say that I feel like I’m in an environment where you have all the conditions. I really want to keep taking steps all the time so that really motivates me.”

Currently on international duty with Sweden, Blackstenius scored a 50th-minute winner to help her side beat Serbia 1-0. Sweden are currently second in their group, one point behind Denmark.
