Rangers beat Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Tottenham to wonderkid signing

Rangers have agreed a deal with a highly-rated Scottish starlet that hardly anyone will have ever heard of - but it is a major coup for the Scottish giants.

The Ibrox outfit have won the race to tie highly-rated teenager Ashton Scally down to a deal ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester City, who were all tracking the 16-year-old.

The full-back has only recently turned 16 and has been making waves in the Rangers youth set up, leading to that interest from some of the biggest clubs in the Premier League.

According to the Daily Record, the teenager is "regarded as one of the most prodigious talents in Scotland and the best to come through the Auchenhowie academy in recent years".

Rangers have been determined to keep him at the club, despite growing interest from England's biggest clubs, and they have won the race to tie him down to a deal, with an agreement in place for him to sign a three-year contract in what will be his first professional deal.

Rules in Scotland state that you can sign your first professional deal at the age of 16 - Scally enjoyed his 16th birthday last week - whereas it is 17 in England, although many players are often offered deals at the age of 16 ahead of their 17th birthdays.

Scally has already played at international level for Scotland's youth side and has a number of apperarances for Rangers' U19 side already under his belt.

Danny Rohl Has High Hopes For The Teenager

He follows in the footsteps of teammate Kyle Glasgow, who also rejected interest from elsewhere to stay at Ibrox.

Manager Danny Rohl played a huge part in convincing Scally to remain in Scotland, as he was included in the first team squad for their warm weather training camp in Spain recently.

Rangers sit second in the Scottish Premiership currently, with the league now splitting into a top and bottom half for the finsl five games of the campaign.

The top six will all play each other once more, with the same happening in the bottom six. Just three points separate the top three in the table, with the Gers a point adrift of leaders Hearts and two points clear of fierce rivals Celtic in third.
