Chelsea’s attacking summer signings have largely not paid off this season, although the opportunity to sign Rafael Leao for a cut-price fee.
With the exception of Joao Pedro, Chelsea will not be thrilled with the impact of their new attackers in the 2025/26 season, with the left wingers disappointing in particular.
Jamie Gittens is set to end his first season at the club without a goal in the Premier League, and recent reports have stated that Blues chiefs have been unimpressed by Alejandro Garnacho.
With Estevao injured, is it Jesse Derry’s time vs Brighton?
Surely Alejandro Garnacho can’t start again…
Chelsea have chance to sign Rafael Leao for just £40m
The Argentine was being tracked for a number of months before the club finally confirmed a £40m deal to sign him from Manchester United.
As far as other left wingers go, the club have been strongly linked with the signing of Rafael Leao on a number of occasions.

Previously, the Blues have been quoted close to a club-record fee for the potential addition, however journalist Matteo Moretto has stated on YouTube that this fee could drop as low as £40m this summer.
He said: “Clearly, it depends on the offer, but from what we understand, if an offer of around €50m were to arrive, a bit more with bonuses, then surely around this figure of €45-50m, Milan could also consider it.”
On a free transfer, he has to be considered!

Leao a regular in front of goal
A lack of goals out wide has been the real issue for Chelsea this season. As well as Gittens’ woes, Garnacho has just one league goal this campaign, and it has been a number of months since Pedro Neto found the net in the league.
Leao meanwhile regularly contributes in front of goal. He has 10 goals in all competitions to his name this season.
As Blues fans continue to make their voices heard regarding the ownership, one of their loudest concerns has been regarding not signing players who are ready to slot straight into the starting side.
Leao would certainly fit in this category, and is a signing Chelsea need to consider if they are planning to compete at the top level again.
