Coventry City have been confirmed as Championship champions after a 5-1 win over Portsmouth on Tuesday night. Frank Lampard's side secured their position in style to allow for jubilant scenes at the CBS Arena.
The Sky Blues had already been promoted to the Premier League following the 1-1 draw away at Blackburn Rovers last Friday, but produced a comfortable win to become champions in style. Though the Sky Blues had some help from their south coast opponents.
Lampard's side took the lead in the opening 45 minutes when Jack Rudoni's corner found Haji Wright. The American forward nodded in as Portsmouth goalkeeper Nicolas Schmid was caught on his heels after trying to clear himself of bodies.

The second period saw a bigger error from Schmid, however. The shotstopper's poor touch inside his own area just after the break allowed Ephron Mason-Clarke to pounce to double Coventry's lead.
And an own-goal quickly followed. Less than two minutes later, Milan van Ewijk sent in a cross from the right, which Regan Poole looked to cut out, but could only fire past his own goalkeeper.
Not even Adrian Segecic's fine strike after 69 minutes could dampen Coventry's spirits. Mason-Clarke got his second of the night to ensure the celebrations ended on a positive note with a fierce shot from inside the area.
The night was not over there as Jack Rudoni put across the ball in stoppage time for Kaine Hayden to cap off the night in style. The party had truly begun.

Following promotion, club owner Doug King revealed how happy he was for long-suffering Sky Blues supporters: “I'm so delighted for them, you can feel it, it's like the city is back together.
"I know the club and the stadium are back together, but the city is back together with optimism, excitement, hope what's going to happen in the Premier League.
“We haven't been there for a while They're all doing their permutations and simulations now, for me that's magnificent. They've got that to look forward to and they've got a few weeks now to celebrate because we're not at the last gasp in a playoff or a final game to get in the playoffs.”
