Chelsea's horrific form continued in the Premier League as Brighton cruised to a 3-0 victory - leapfrogging their opponents into European contention.
Ferdi Kadioglu opened the scoring for the hosts after only three minutes, highlighting the Blues' poor defending from set pieces.
A change in system at the start of the second half offered a period of hope, before Jack Hinshelwood doubled Brighton's advantage and put the result beyond any reasonable doubt.
Danny Welbeck added a third just before full-time, handing Liam Rosenior a fifth consecutive league defeat.
Chelsea have now failed to score in over 450 minutes of Premier League football for the first time in 114 years - and struggled to cope without Joao Pedro, Cole Palmer and Estevao Willian, who were all missing due to injury.
They will hope to turn their luck around at the weekend when they face Leeds United in the semi final of the FA Cup.
Here is how every Chelsea player rated:
Starting Lineup
Robert Sanchez - 4
Bailed the Blues out of a handful of Brighton chances, but was liable to his own errors, including a horrific misplaced pass that nearly resulted in a goal.
Malo Gusto - 3
Looked utterly lost defensively, often drifting more central and allowing Kaoru Mitoma with plenty of space to cause problems. Some improvement in the second half with the switch to a back four.
Wesley Fofana - 4
The only Chelsea player to be booked in the first half, and was brought off at the half - likely to avoid another potential red.
Trevoh Chalobah - 6
A crucial goal line clearance to spare Sanchez's blushes. The brightest and most stable out of the centre-backs, Chalobah looked determined to make defensive sprints and attempt last-ditch tackles.
Jorrell Hato - 4
Made a poor headed clearance from a corner, essentially heading down the ball for Ferdi Kadioglu's opener after only three minutes. A somewhat disappointing outing after some promising recent form.
Marc Cucurella - 4.5
An somewhat quiet game for the full-back, who was often found pushing into Brighton's half to offer an extra attacking outlet, albeit with very little service.
Moises Caicedo - 4
Not exactly deployed in a role that brought out the midfielder's usual quality. Often dropped much deeper, alongside Chalobah in the defence.
Romeo Lavia - 5
Chelsea largely struggled to keep possession in the midfield, and Lavia made the best out of a bad situation with some promising forward passes. Came very close to an equaliser at the beginning of the second half.
Enzo Fernandez - 4.5
Similarly to Caicedo, Fernandez did not exactly suit his role in the first half, and couldn't make much impact on the game. Was given back the captain's armband after the match against Manchester United.
Pedro Neto - 3
Completed just one successful dribble and made one accurate cross in ninety minutes. Struggled in the first half when moving into an inverted attacking role.
Liam Delap - 4
Still searching for more consistent goalscoring form - though given Chelsea's lack of creativity with the absence of Cole Palmer, the striker was always going to struggle.
Substitutes
Alejandro Garnacho - 5
Highlighted a switch in formation for Chelsea in the second half, which resulted in a more familiar attacking rhythm. Garnacho came closest with a curled effort that bounced just wide of Verbruggen's goal.
Dario Essugo - 5.5
A decent cameo from Essugo, who has been given several chances under Rosenior. Played in a more advanced role in midfield, likely to apply pressure and push for an opening.
Marc Guiu - 5
Recieved his first league minutes since December. Could only manage a blocked effort from the edge of the 18-yard box.
Josh Acheampong - N/A
Brought on in injury time.
