Harry Redknapp Claims Man Utd Have Stolen Player From Arsenal For A“Bargain”Price

Former West Ham and Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp says Man Utd got themselves “the bargain of the century” when they signed Ayden Heaven from Arsenal last year for only £1m.

The teenager started the Red Devils’ 1-0 win over Chelsea at the weekend, and Redknapp was very impressed by what he saw from the young defender:

“Ayden Heaven is the bargain of the century, if you ask me! [A] mere £1 million and this 19-year-old whipper-snapper goes and delivers a standout, mature defensive performance.”

“He was the calmest player on the pitch in a high-stakes away game. He hasn’t played since Amorim left, and this kid has now laid down a marker to Michael Carrick.”

Heaven stood up to the plate when needed

Manager Michael Carrick was without all four of his senior centre-halves for the trip to Stamford Bridge. Lisandro Martinez and Harry Maguire were suspended, while Leny Yoro and Matthijs de Ligt were both injured.

Despite forming a makeshift centre-back partnership with fullback Noussair Mazraoui, Heaven played a key role in keeping a crucial clean sheet.

Will Heaven start for Man Utd against Brentford?

Yoro is believed to have suffered only a minor knock, which prevented him from featuring against Chelsea, while Maguire will return from this two-match ban.

It means there is a good chance that Heaven will find himself back on the bench for the clash on Monday. However, his mature performance last week will have given Carrick pause for thought about his selection choices ahead of the Brentford fixture.

While Maguire is guaranteed to be recalled to the starting eleven, Yoro hasn’t exactly been in great form, and there is an argument for Heaven to start ahead of him. Whether that will happen, though, it remains to be seen.
