Tuesday night's 4-3 defeat at Hartlepool United means the Shrimpers are no longer able to secure a home game in the play-offs.

But Boyes still believes there is plenty for Blues to play for this weekend.
"We said at the start of the season we wanted 80 points and I'm pretty sure if we win on Saturday that takes us above 80 points," said the left-wing-back.
"You need momentum going into the play-offs too so we want to win and we want to put things right (after Tuesday's defeat) too."
Blues had gone eight games unbeaten prior to losing at Victoria Park.
But Boyes stressed it was important for the Shrimpers to keep their heads held high.
"We can't get too down about it," said Boyes.
"We've been on an unreal run to be fair and we've got some big games coming up to focus on now."
The Shrimpers remain sixth in the table but can still be caught by seventh placed Forest Green Rovers heading into the final game of the season.
Blues will therefore be heading to Boreham Wood or Scunthorpe United in the play-offs.
And Boyes knows Southend will need to defend better than they did against Hartlepool if they are to make it through.
"Conceding four isn't like us," said the 24-year-old.
"We've gone from being one of the best defences in the league to conceding four, it's not a normal feeling.
"It's disappointing and conceding four is never nice but we'll have a look at it and improve.
"We'll go back in, reflect on it and go to put it right but t's a bit raw right now though and a bit frustrating."
But Boyes also felt the Shrimpers still had enough opportunities to take something from the game.
"We got punished for our errors but we had enough chances to win the game ourselves," said Boyes.
"We started well, got the goal and Leon (Parillon) has had a chance as well.
"We should probably be more than 1-0 up but that's football.
"You get punished for an error and it's back even.
"But we never gave in and this team never will whatever happens."
And repaying the backing of Blues' fans is also a factor where that is concerned.
"They're massive for us," said Boyes.
"When we're away from home they almost take over don't they.
"You hear them more than you hear the home fans.
"I'm sure they'll come in their numbers (for the play-offs) and we'll do them proud."
