Tim Sherwood Slams Chelsea Defence And Goalkeeper After Humiliating Brighton Loss

Speaking on Sky Sports, Tim Sherwood has ripped into the Chelsea team after they lost 3-0 to Brighton on Tuesday night. The ex-Tottenham manager criticised Marc Cucurella, Malo Gusto, and the whole defence, and he also questioned the goalkeeper’s qualifications.

Liam Rosenior’s team were ripped apart at the American Express Stadium. Ferdi Kadıoğlu’s early effort in the third minute set the tone, and Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck scored more goals after the break. This loss made the Blues’ losing streak in the Premier League five games long, which is their longest since 1993. Speaking about the loss, Sherwood said:

“They are not playing for their manager. Whether it’s him, Pochettino, Potter, Enzo Maresca, they throw them all under the bus. The players need to look at themselves but the club needs to change, you are not going to shift the mindset of these Chelsea fans.

“Cucurella was poor tonight, Gusto was poor, the centre-backs are not good enough, whether it’s Fofana, Hato or Chalobah, they’re not good enough, the goalkeeper is not good enough. They need experienced players, not only in age but who have played a lot of games and know the Premier League.”

He added:

“I want to see leaders on that team like the Chelsea of old. This is not Chelsea Football Club, it’s nothing like I recognise from a Chelsea Football Club… terrible.”

Chelsea’s Champions League Dream Hangs By A Thread As Rosenior Faces Mounting Pressure

After Tuesday’s humiliating trip to the Amex Stadium, the pressure on Liam Rosenior has grown a lot. The 41-year-old head coach did not protect his players in his comments after the game, calling the performance “indefensible” and “unprofessional” in separate interviews.

The Blues have not scored in five straight league games, which is the worst run the club have had since November 1912. Brighton’s win put the Seagulls in sixth place, ahead of a Chelsea team that are still in shock and have only a 1.3% chance of making it to the Champions League, according to Opta’s supercomputer.

Next up is an FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United. This is now Chelsea’s best chance to win a trophy this season. Fans at the Amex were already chanting for Rosenior to be fired, so the former Strasbourg manager really needs his stars to step up and show some character.
