Tim Sherwood predicts if Liam Rosenior will be sacked after Chelsea's loss at Brighton

Chelsea’s loss to Brighton on Tuesday was damning. It was not a close encounter; it was a disaster for Liam Rosenior, and Tim Sherwood has predicted whether he will survive the sack.

Goals from Ferdi Kadioglu, Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck saw Brighton rub salt in the wounds for Rosenior and Chelsea. Brighton’s 3-0 win comes off the back of four straight Premier League defeats.

It is Chelsea’s worst run for more than 100 years, failing to score in their last five Premier League games. While some still believe the blame lies upstairs, Rosenior has lost all sympathy, and fans let him know.

Even after the game, Rosenior unlocked the shackles and spoke passionately in his press conferences and interviews. The Chelsea boss did not hold back, speaking like a man who had become entirely fed up.

Chelsea continuing to make history under Liam Rosenior… for all the wrong reasons!

He spoke of how the Chelsea players needed to “look in the mirror”, how the performance was totally “indefensible,” and that even three or four of his starting XI lacked the determination to win the game.

Tim Sherwood predicts Liam Rosenior will be sacked

Ultimately, the board cannot be sacked. The players cannot all be sold or unused. The buck stops with the manager, even though in this case, it is extremely unfair. Rosenior is the one whose position is unsafe.

Just 23 games into his Chelsea stint, it looks as if Rosenior could well lose his job ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Leeds. Tim Sherwood believes Chelsea will sack Rosenior following the 3-0 loss.

During the game, Sherwood told Sky Sports: ” Now they need to go back into the market and pick a few more Brighton players. Maybe a new manager. This is not good enough. Embarrassing.”

He continued after the match: “Liam Rosenior will not survive this. He will not, unfortunately for him. It’s a really tough job for any manager to survive this environment. Chelsea is a development club.”

Will Chelsea sack Rosenior before the FA Cup semi-final?

If there is a positive of Rosenior’s reign as Chelsea manager, it has been the FA Cup. While Chelsea have not yet faced a Premier League side, they have made light work of the four sides Rosenior has faced.

In the four FA Cup games played under Rosenior, Chelsea have ended up scoring 20 goals. Four against Hull and Wrexham – albeit, after extra-time against the latter – and five in his first match against Charlton.

Lastly, seven against Port Vale. Whether Chelsea can find a replacement for Rosenior before the FA Cup game against Leeds at Wembley remains to be seen. But if you are a Leeds fan, you will be very confident.

The noise coming out of Chelsea before the Brighton game had been one of support for Rosenior. But after the 3-0 hammering, it feels almost inevitable that Rosenior will go; impossible to come back from.
