Trevoh Chalobah disagrees with Liam Rosenior after Chelsea's defeat to Brighton

The internal rift at Chelsea has widened following the 2–1 defeat to Brighton, as Trevoh Chalobah publicly disputed Liam Rosenior’s accusations of a lack of desire.

Chelsea’s season officially descended into record-breaking territory following a dismal 3–0 defeat at Brighton on Tuesday night. The loss marks the first time in 114 years that the club has suffered five consecutive league defeats without scoring a single goal, equalling a historic low set back in 1912.

Liam Rosenior’s side appeared completely disorganised from the outset, conceding to Ferdi Kadioglu after just three minutes before further goals from Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck compounded the misery.

Trevoh Chalobah, returning to the starting XI for the first time in over a month, found himself at the centre of a desperate defensive effort. While he provided a rare highlight with a goal-line clearance in the first half, he was ultimately part of a backline that looked totally helpless at times.

Chelsea fans, if Liam Rosenior was sacked before the FA Cup semi-final, who would you want to see in charge?

Trevoh Chalobah backs his fellow Chelsea teammates

Speaking after the 3-0 defeat, Trevoh Chalobah was quick to praise the effort of his Chelsea teammates, suggesting that there’s not much more that they could have done.

“I thought personally that the boys were running their socks off. Everyone in the changing room is tired. It’s nothing to do with effort. We gave it our all, we just got beat today.”

However, Liam Rosenior was on a totally different page, stating that none of his players showed any desire and that his tactics weren’t to blame at all.

“Tonight was not about tactics, it was about desire.”

A clear disconnect at Chelsea

The 3–0 capitulation at Brighton has exposed a damaging rift between Liam Rosenior and his squad.

Chalobah’s public rebuttal, claiming the players are physically exhausted despite their maximum effort, suggests a tactical and emotional breakdown.

The squad no longer appears to be playing for a coach they clearly feel misunderstood by.
