Barcelona wave white flag to Chelsea and Liverpool in transfer race – Give up against PL

Yan Diomande

Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona have all looked at RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande ahead of the summer.

On April 6th, Sport Witness covered claims from Spain about the Premier League duo and Barcelona interest.

The same source stated Liverpool and Chelsea are prepared to offer €60m for the winger.

Last week, the Ivory Coast international said the latest claims of interest from Liverpool, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and other clubs give him motivation.

At the same time, he refused to rule out a summer exit.

The German club paid €20m to sign him from CD Leganés in July 2025 and he starred in his debut season.

His Bundesliga stats are as follows:

Appearances: 29

Starts: 24

Total minutes: 2,137

Minutes per game: 74

Goals: 12

Assists: 6

Latest on Liverpool, Chelsea and Barcelona

Wednesday’s edition of Sport covers the La Liga side’s stance on Yan Diomande and mentions Liverpool and Chelsea.

The winger is Barcelona sporting director Deco’s preferred choice to improve the attack in the summer. Therefore, the La Liga winners had a meeting with his agent less than a month ago.

Liverpool and Chelsea ahead for transfer of Yan DiomandeHis potential arrival at the Camp Nou would depend on Barca not extending Marcus Rashford’s loan stay and Raphinha receiving a lucrative offer.

Hansi Flick’s side approacedh RB Leipzig to find out the conditions needed to secure his services.

The latter are aiming for the 19-year-old to be their record sale. Sport points out claims from Germany are indicating a fee of around €100m, which Barcelona can’t match.

Therefore, the Catalan club ‘abandon the dream’ of signing the winger and focus on signing a striker and a centre-back. This should come as a boost for Liverpool and Chelsea.

Both Arne Slot’s side and the Blues, along with Manchester United, would be in a position to meet the fee demand to sign him.

Leipzig are third, five points ahead of fifth placed TSG Hoffenheim. A Champions League qualification would further strengthen their position to either retain or demand a hefty fee for Diomande.

Our take: Liverpool have edge over Chelsea

Back in January, Yan Diomande talked about his desire to make a switch to Liverpool.

At that time, he said: “I want to play for Liverpool. I’m a huge Liverpool fan. My dad dreams of seeing me play at Anfield!”

This gives the Reds an advantage over others as long as they are willing to meet Leipzig’s demands.
