'They can't do much': Brighton goalscorer explains how you can stop Chelsea after 3-0 win

Brighton & Hove Albion star Ferdi Kadioglu has shared how his side were able to beat Chelsea so easily on Tuesday.

Kadioglu scored the opener for Brighton in just the third minute before goals from Jack Hinshelwood and Danny Welbeck made it 3-0 against the Blues.

Chelsea are reportedly set to have a meeting about Liam Rosenior’s future following that result. It was the team’s fifth consecutive defeat in the Premier League under the 41-year-old.

Chelsea continuing to make history under Liam Rosenior… for all the wrong reasons!

Ferdi Kadioglu claims Chelsea players can’t do much when you get tight to them

Brighton did not afford Chelsea many opportunities at the Amex Stadium on Tuesday night. They got tight to their opponents, and that is the key to beating them, according to Kadioglu.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the full-time whistle, the Turkey international said: “We knew from the beginning that we have to play hard. Chelsea have good players. If you are tight with them, they can’t do much. I think we did that amazing.”

Brighton are clearly not the only team who have found the formula to beating Chelsea while also preventing them from scoring.

Prior to their loss to the Seagulls, Chelsea were defeated by Manchester United, Manchester City, Everton and Newcastle United and failed to score in any of those games.

Against Brighton, though, Chelsea were really poor. It was perhaps their worst performance of the season. It is hard to believe that this team managed to beat Barcelona 3-0 in the Champions League earlier in the campaign.

Chelsea’s shocking attacking numbers at the Amex

There is no way to dress it up. Offensively, Chelsea were embarrassing during the 90 minutes against Brighton.

As per Sofascore, they had an xG of just 0.37 and failed to register a single shot on target. In contrast, Brighton had an xG of 2.14 and managed to record nine shots on target.

They were undoubtedly the deserving winners and gave Chelsea a lesson on how to attack the other team’s goal.

If Rosenior’s side do not improve in that area in their FA Cup semi-final tie against Leeds United on Sunday, they are going to get knocked out of the competition.
