Chelsea may have to pay Liam Rosenior as much as £24million in compensation if they decide to sack him. The head coach still has six years left on the contract signed in January, which is said to be worth £4million a season, according to The Sun.

Rosenior, 41, would therefore be due the remaining £24million on his deal if the Blues decide to part ways. However, the contract could well contain clauses to reduce the compensation package owed to him.

It cost similarly significant sums to dispense with Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho previously. Chelsea have paid out £161.6 million in compensation during the Premier League era.

The dismissal of Conte and his staff cost £26.6million, which remains a record outlay eight years later. That total topped the £23.1million spent when sacking Mourinho and company the first time around in 2007.

More recently, moving on from Thomas Tuchel saw the now England head coach and his staff at the time paid £15million. His predecessor Graham Potter is due £13million from the Blues, who paid Brighton & Hove Albion over £21million to hire him and several staff.
