Gabriel Arteta, the son of Arsenal manager Mikel, has been named on the bench as Arsenal U18s face Reading away today.
It is the first time that the winger, who isn’t officially contracted to the club, has been named in the matchday squad for a competitive U18s game.
Gabriel was previously called up for an U18s friendly against Ipswich Town, while he has featured for the club at U17 level.
There is also a first callup to the U18 squad for U15 defender Zachary van der Straaten.
The left-sided centre-back impressed for the U15s during their recent tournament success in China.
Arsenal U18s are without the likes of Jack Porter, Callan Hamill and Brando Bailey-Joseph for today’s game.
Goalkeeper Jack Talbot has been named on the bench after recovering from injury.
There are starts for schoolboys Hakeem Abubakar and Emerson Nwaneri as well as first year scholar Bowen Phillips.
