After we face Bournemouth tonight, Leeds United travel down to Wembley on Sunday to take on a hapless Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final.
The Whites have a historic week in store under Daniel Farke. First, a trip to Bournemouth tonight could end up helping us mathematically secure our place in the Premier League.
Then on Sunday, Leeds make our way down to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea. The Blues, meanwhile, are in a bad way.
“They’ll turn up” – Danny Murphy and Simon Jordan discuss Leeds United’s clash with Chelsea in FA Cup semi-final
Chelsea are left licking the wounds of yet another Premier League defeat this morning. Away to Brighton last night, Liam Rosenior’s side again failed to score as they were soundly beaten by the Seagulls.
An early strike from Ferdi Kadioglu and a last-minute goal from Danny Welbeck contributed to a resounding 3-0 win for Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton against a Chelsea side sorely lacking in effort and quality.
Ahead of the FA Cup semi-final on Sunday, talkSPORT duo Danny Murphy and Simon Jordan previewed the game. They discussed whether Chelsea will be up for this semi-final, and whether Leeds are now suddenly the favourites.
“Well on form [Leeds are favourites], but no, I would still say Chelsea are favourites, because of the quality of players,” Murphy answered.
“But their form is poor. Sometimes players though, if you play in a different competition, away from your stadium, it’s a different feeling at Wembley.
“Maybe they can play free, the pressure’s not the same. Maybe, they’ll rise to the occasion. I think they’ll turn up.”
“It’s an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley, they’ll turn up,” Jordan agreed.
Leeds United must strive to upset Chelsea at FA Cup semi-final
There won’t be a bigger chance than this for years to get to an FA Cup final for Leeds. Chelsea look completely out of sorts and have a manager that is on the brink of the sack, surely.
With that, Farke should fancy his chances of getting a win at Wembley to cap off what would be an incredible season.
He’d cement his legacy as a result if he can assure our Premier League survival while getting to an FA Cup final. That’s club legend sort of territory.
