Report: Chelsea owners still think 'highly' of manager who almost replaced Graham Potter

While Julian Nagelsmann remains the dream appointment for BlueCo and key decision-makers at Stamford Bridge, there’s one thing stopping them and Liam Rosenior.

Chelsea find themselves on the brink of missing out on Europe entirely. This goal-barren streak, the club’s worst since 1912, has left them languishing in seventh place, effectively ending any realistic hope of Champions League qualification, which most of their hopes were pinned on.

This collapse has placed Liam Rosenior’s future under immediate threat. However, with no immediate successor lined up, the board has reportedly issued a final ultimatum.

Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final against Leeds at Wembley is now a definitive crossroads; a defeat would likely force the hierarchy to act before the campaign disintegrates entirely.

Chelsea fans, if Liam Rosenior was sacked before the FA Cup semi-final, who would you want to see in charge?

Chelsea are big fans of Julian Nagelsmann

According to TeamTalk, Nageslmann remains highly regarded by both BlueCo and key decision-makers at the club.

Despite that, no firm move has been made.

Interestingly, Nagelsmann was interviewed and came close to managing Chelsea after Graham Potter was sacked back in 2023. However, he didn’t want to wait around and be interviewed five times for the job, complaining that the process took too long.

As well as this, the Blues had reservations over his man-management in particular.

Would Julian Nagelsmann be a good fit for Chelsea?

Well, first off, he’s set to manage Germany at the World Cup this summer, so any move to make him Chelsea boss would have to wait until after the competition.

Julian Nagelsmann is the ideal profile. His modern, high-intensity approach aligns with the squad’s young profile, and he has a proven track record of developing world-class talent and structured defensive systems.

Unlike the recent instability, Nagelsmann provides a clear identity and a background of success at major clubs like Bayern Munich.
