The Clarets’ demotion back down to the Championship will be confirmed this evening if they’re beaten by title-challenging Manchester City.
Any other result, meanwhile, will only prolong the inevitable.
Speaking ahead of tonight’s clash with Pep Guardiola’s side, Burnley boss Scott Parker set out what he expects to see from his players.
“I think now it comes down to what the players want as well really as individuals,” he explained.
“So if Tuesday night is the case and the reality is the reality, it's what individuals want and how they want to approach this.
“From my side, as always, the driver will be exactly my words, which I'm saying in terms of there's certain things that you can control for sure and there's certain traits and there's certain habits you can control.

“Now at times, not getting a result or the outcome of a performance, sometimes you can always accept that you maybe fall a little bit short on that due to many reasons.
“But there's one thing you can never fall short on is exactly what you're in control of and that what you are in control of needs to be an absolute mainstay for us, so that'll be the messaging.”

Burnley can also have a major say on the title race tonight, with Man City able to leapfrog Arsenal into top spot with three points.
Parker, however, is only focusing on his side and his side alone.
“The main thing is having an effect on us and what we do,” he added.
“That challenge is there for us and it's an incredible challenge, one which we did what we did last year to have this challenge.
“We're going up against the elite of the elite, from a coach to individual players, and that's a challenge there that we should be relishing.
“In a one-off game of 90 minutes, it's one that we should be relishing as individuals to go up against the best in the world and see if we can lay a mark on it as individuals and as a team.”
While relegation is not yet confirmed, Parker admits it’s the right time to start planning for next season.
“You certainly need to have an eye on that, for sure, as a club, all of us need to have an eye on that,” he said.
“But I think that at this present moment in time, things go around so, so quickly, games come thick and fast, But no doubt in the near future, I'm sure, those plans or those chats will take place in a bit more detail.”
