Manchester City look set to be without Rodri for their Premier League clash against Burnley on Wednesday evening. The 29-year-old was forced off with a potential injury late on in Sunday's victory over Arsenal with that issue still seemingly bothering him.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Pep Guardiola offered an update on the Spanish midfielder. He said: "I think for tomorrow [vs Burnley] he will not be ready. We'll see in the next games, [in the FA Cup] semi-final against Southampton or in 12, 13 days against Everton."

Nico Gonzalez looks set to replace Rodri in the starting XI with Guardiola possibly considering other changes just a few days before his side's second trip to Wembley this season. Nico O'Reilly stole the show on their last visit with that being the Carabao Cup final win over Arsenal.

There was doubt over his availability to face the Gunners in league action after he appeared to pick up a hamstring issue against Chelsea. However, he shook off that problem to feature at Etihad Stadium, though there was still no place in the squad for Ruben Dias.

The Portugal international has been absent since the Carabao Cup final triumph over the Gunners with Guardiola confirming he is still out. When asked about Dias, he said: "Ruben is not ready still."

Josko Gvardiol is City's other injury absentee having undergone surgery on a broken shinbone back in January. The versatile defender looks to be facing a race against time to play again this season.

John Stones returned to the bench over the weekend having been plagued by issues over the last few months. It has since been reported that he is set to leave City at the end of the season after a decade at the club.

Burnley have double the amount of injury absentees for the clash at Turf Moor on Wednesday with six players currently unavailable. Former Manchester United star Axel Tuanzebe could be back in the squad for the first time in nearly three months however, with Parker admitting last week that he is back in contention.

He said: "Axel came back from a busy schedule. Obviously, I was comfortable with the team and where they were, so again, we'll see where we are with Axel in terms of him managing."

Hannibal Mejbri is another close to returning but the visit of City comes too soon with Parker stating it is more likely he returns against Leeds United next month. Connor Roberts is also hoping to return for that match against his old loan club.

Zeki Amdouni could play again this season but will be absent for Wednesday's clash under the lights while Josh Cullen and Jordan Beyer are Burnley's long-term absentees.
