Report: How much Chelsea will pay Liam Rosenior if sacked,£20m more than Enzo Maresca

It is being reported that Liam Rosenior could receive his marching orders today following Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton on Tuesday night – and he is set to receive an enormous payout.

Rosenior’s future was already in doubt going to his old club Brighton on Tuesday night. Things got worse even before the game had started, with Rosenior ruling out both Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer in attack.

Three minutes in, and Chelsea were behind. Ferdi Kadioglu’s goal set Brighton on their way towards a 3-0 win, with Chelsea appalling from start to finish. The players stopped trying, and Rosenior didn’t hold back.

Chelsea continuing to make history under Liam Rosenior… for all the wrong reasons!

The former Strasbourg manager blasted his players post-match, clearly an attempt at shifting blame and rightly so. But it won’t be enough. Reports claim Rosenior is due to be sacked and has said his goodbyes.

Liam Rosenior will receive an enormous £24m compensation fee

Rosenior penned a six-and-a-half-year deal when he agreed to join Chelsea from Strasbourg in January. It is believed, according to reports, that Chelsea had enticed him with the help of a £4m-a-year contract.

Clearly, a pay rise on the wages he initially earned. It means that if Chelsea were to sack Rosenior at this stage, the current Chelsea gaffer would receive a massive £24m in compensation as per Football London.

Another blot on the page of Todd Boehly and Clearlake’s ownership, handing Rosenior a ridiculously long-term contract and now being forced to pay a massive compensation fee, just a few months later.

Enzo Maresca received a fraction of Liam Rosenior’s payout

Of course, nothing at this stage has been confirmed. But sources do indicate that Chelsea are preparing for his exit and it remains to be seen if Rosenior will be in the dugout at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

What is eye-catching, however, is that Enzo Maresca received a tiny portion of what Rosenior would get if sacked. Maresca walked on New Year’s Day, officially, rather than actually being confirmed as sacked.

DISCUSS: Sacking Maresca was one of Boehly’s biggest mistakes…

It is believed that hampered the cash he received from the Chelsea owners. Reports in the last couple of months claim Maresca earned a much smaller fee of just £4.3m, almost £20m less than Rosenior would.

It is ironic, given Rosenior has already lost more Premier League games this season than Maresca has, in fewer matches. Chelsea would surely love to rewind to New Year’s Day and attempt to keep Maresca.
