Jose Mourinho makes£54m Chelsea star his number one transfer target this summer

Chelsea are likely going to be parting ways with a number of players when the transfer window opens again, and Jose Mourinho is looking to take advantage by targeting Pedro Neto this summer.

With Champions League football now looking impossible to achieve this season, the club will be bracing for offers for a number of their big players.

There is currently no clarity over the future of Enzo Fernandez, who has not yet signed a new contract with the club and has openly stated his desire to move to Madrid in the future.

Chelsea fans, if Liam Rosenior was sacked before the FA Cup semi-final, who would you want to see in charge?

Jose Mourinho wants to sign Pedro Neto from Chelsea

Movement is expected in the wide areas, and this could include Pedro Neto after his personal season has fallen off a cliff since the turn of the year.

Neto has not scored in the Premier League since the start of December, and is a constant source of frustration amongst Chelsea fans.

Jose Mourinho and Benfica are looking to capitalise on this. According to Simon Phillips, the Portuguese side have made the winger their number one target for the upcoming transfer window, should the manager remain at the club.

He said: “As for Pedro Neto, we haven’t heard that the club are actively trying to ship him out as well yet. But he does have interest coming in and in fact, SPTC Sources understand Benfica have made Neto their number one target for the summer window.

“This comes with a big if though, because it’s only IF Jose Mourinho stays as their manager into another season. He’s the one driving the interest.”

With Estevao Willian and Geovany Quenda ready to make their mark on a regular basis, there may be a desire to cash in on the former Wolves man after his £54m signing from Molineux.

Neto signifies Chelsea players’ stance on Liam Rosenior

At the time of writing, Chelsea have not yet parted ways with Liam Rosenior despite the woeful form of the club in the Premier League.

This is despite the fact Rosenior reportedly said goodbye to his players after the defeat to Brighton where they were comfortably beaten.

Neto was heard directly ignoring Rosenior’s instructions during the game, directly feeding into the narrative that the players are no longer fighting for their manager.

With a crucial FA Cup semi-final to come against Leeds United, many have no confidence going into the game with Rosenior at the helm.
