Sky Sports give Liam Rosenior sack update after Chelsea's 3-0 loss to Brighton

It is yet to be confirmed, but reports on Wednesday morning suggested Liam Rosenior might lose his job as Chelsea manager, and now, Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has provided an update.

Tuesday night saw arguably Rosenior’s worst result as Chelsea manager. Certainly, Chelsea’s poorest performance. The Blues were taught a footballing lesson by Brighton on the south coast, losing 3-0.

It was not simply a Brighton win. It was a demolition that could have resulted in Brighton winning by five or six. The players looked as if they had downed tools, and were outrun by their opponents once again.

While all of the blame does not lie at Rosenior’s door, the manager is the one in the firing line, and reports claim Rosenior has said goodbye to his players. Now, Kaveh Solhekol has delivered an update.

What Kaveh Solhekol has said about Rosenior’s Chelsea future

With Chelsea in action at Wembley on Sunday afternoon in the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United, a decision will have to be made quickly. Whether that be, sticking with Rosenior or deciding to sack him.

Fans made their voices clear on the night, and a lot of it was against the Chelsea manager. Solhekol said on Sky Sports that right now, Rosenior’s position in the Blues dugout is “touch and go” as things stand.

“I think it’s touch and go, whether he remains as the Chelsea head coach. I thought it was interesting after the game last night that he seemed to suggest that he would be picking the team on Sunday.

“He made a point of saying, I’m going to make sure I pick players. But I’m pretty sure this morning, at Chelsea’s training ground, the senior executives there will be discussing what they need to do next.

“The sort of information coming out of the club has been that even if we don’t make the Champions League, we are sticking with Liam Rosenior. Personally, I don’t see how that’s possible anymore.”

How long does Liam Rosenior have on his Chelsea contract?

It has been just three months since Rosenior took charge of his first game, a 5-1 win over Championship side Charlton Athletic in the third round of the FA Cup. Indeed, the FA Cup has proven to be a success.

Chelsea fans, if Liam Rosenior was sacked before the FA Cup semi-final, who would you want to see in charge?

Rosenior and Rosenior only has guided Chelsea to the semi-finals of the FA Cup. But Chelsea are yet to face Premier League opposition in the FA Cup. Nevertheless, Chelsea have scored 20 goals in four games.

Whether that is enough to see him given a chance to take Chelsea into the final on Sunday remains to be seen. Another aspect could be the compensation fee Chelsea will have to fork out if they do sack him.

Rosenior signed a six-and-a-half-year deal in January, contracted until June 2032. Whatever the wage, Chelsea will have to fork out a massive fee for a manager that is not even six months into that contract.
