Chelsea cult hero responds when directly asked if he would want the manager job

Frank Leboeuf has delivered a blistering critique of Chelsea’s underperforming squad, suggesting that they would be almost impossible to manage.

Frank Leboeuf remains a symbol of an era when Chelsea demanded and delivered elite standards, having won two FA Cups and the Cup Winners’ Cup as a composed, world-class leader.

With Liam Rosenior, the Chelsea players have reached a definitive breaking point. The 3–0 loss at Brighton wasn’t just a defeat; it saw a visible disconnect between Trevoh Chalobah and the Blues boss.

This disconnect suggests the squad has effectively given up on a manager whose tactical experiments have failed. With the Champions League out of reach and an FA Cup semi-final looming, the team appears more resigned to failure than ready to fight.

Frank Leboeuf puts the blame on the Chelsea players

When talking on ESPN FC’s YouTube, Leboeuf seemed to suggest that the players are at fault under Liam Rosenior, putting in very poor performances.

Q: Would you take the #Chelsea job?

“I’m not even sure how you have to talk to those players right now. ‘You know what, guys? You’re all crap! We have to start working and do better than that because you’re the shame of the club right now!'”

To some extent, he’s right, as the players are trusted with executing Rosenior’s plans, but some of the tactical decisions have been very questionable.

Who is to blame at Chelsea?

Blame for Chelsea’s downfall is split between a fractured squad and Liam Rosenior’s failing leadership.

After the 3–0 Brighton defeat, Rosenior’s authority is in tatters, having overseen the club’s worst goal drought since 1912.

Ultimately, the owners also faced scrutiny for the lack of a contingency plan; as Frank Leboeuf noted, the players currently look like a shame to the club, but the accountability starts with the manager.

And they’re going to put their trust in Calum McFarlane for the rest of the season.
