Chelsea could now hire a manager Willian has called‘amazing’ to replace Liam Rosenior

Liam Rosenior was under serious pressure at Chelsea following his fifth consecutive defeat in the Premier League and has now been sacked.

Chelsea were beaten 3-0 by Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night, meaning they have now lost five league games in a row without scoring.

The club have now decided to dismiss Rosenior, and there is definitely one manager former Chelsea winger Willian would not mind seeing in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

Chelsea fans, if Liam Rosenior was sacked before the FA Cup semi-final, who would you want to see in charge?

Willian thinks Marco Silva is ‘amazing’

Before Rosenior’s sacking, It was claimed that Fulham boss Marco Silva is one potential candidate to replace the 41-year-old.

He is someone Willian knows well after working with him at Craven Cottage, and the Brazilian has only had positive things to say about his former manager.

After signing a new deal at Chelsea’s rivals in 2023, Willian told Fulham TV via South London Press: “Marco is a guy who I have all the respect for. He is an amazing person and a top manager — one of the best in the league. It is a pleasure to work with him.”

Silva has managed to beat Chelsea this season after guiding his side to a 2-1 win at Craven Cottage back in January.

Liam Delap was the goalscorer for the Blues that day, which is still the only Premier League goal he has bagged in the current campaign.

Goals have been a real issue for Chelsea lately, and Rosenior really needed Delap to step up on Tuesday in the absence of Joao Pedro. Unfortunately, the England Under-21 international could not do that.

Marco Silva should be in contention for Chelsea job

Silva is unlikely to be the favourite for the Chelsea gig following the club’s owners decision to make a change in the dugout.

It is more probable that they go for a fancier name like Cesc Fabregas or Xabi Alonso. Silva deserves to at least be in the conversation, though.

He has done an excellent job at Fulham and is familiar with the Premier League. The Portuguese would be less of a gamble than Rosenior, who always looked like a huge risk. Going forward, Chelsea really cannot afford any more of those.

Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital have already destroyed two seasons by hiring Rosenior and Graham Potter.
