Liam Rosenior’s departure from Chelsea was not unexpected, and the public saga revolving around Enzo Fernandez’s in-house suspension was a key factor to him leaving the club.
A 3-0 defeat to Brighton was the last time Liam Rosenior led the Blues into action, and the woeful nature of that performance summed up the club’s recent form.
There was a sense of the players not showing 100% for their manager too. Rosenior even admitted after the game it looked like the players weren’t fighting for him.
Who do YOU want to see replace Liam Rosenior now he is sacked?
Enzo Fernandez rift spelt the end for Liam Rosenior at Chelsea
Despite it looking at times like the job was too big for the Englishman, he made the bold decision to suspend Enzo Fernandez for the Premier League game against Manchester City after comments he made about a potential move to Real Madrid.
This decision did not go down well with the rest of the first team squad, and TeamTalk have reported that the boss did not have the CV on his side to win the players back.

Fernandez’s omission from the City clash caused great problems for Chelsea, as they stuck in the game until half-time but were eventually beaten 3-0.
Taking out the player who scored the equaliser in the 1-1 draw was a risk which didn’t pay off, and ultimately led to the boss losing his job.

Chelsea’s plan for the post-Rosenior era
Calum McFarlane, who took charge of the aforementioned 1-1 draw against City, is going to be in charge of the first team squad for the rest of the season, including the FA Cup semi-final against Leeds United.
This will allow the club time to come to a decision on who will be the permanent successor, including who they can actually attract to the role.
Behdad Eghbali is reportedly leaning to Andoni Iraola as the best possible replacement for Rosenior, with him set to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season.
The club are seemingly prioritising Premier League experience for their next manager after two consecutive bosses who had never coached in the league before.
