Newcastle United injuries: Tino Livramento is set to miss Saturday’s match against Arsenal due to injury.
Newcastle United and England defender Tino Livramento is set for another spell on the sidelines after he was forced off during the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth.
The 23-year-old had only recently returned from a two-month hamstring injury layoff when he started the match at St James’ Park before going down with a thigh issue in the second half.
Now, Livramento is facing a battle to play again this season with only five Premier League matches remaining. Whether he will remains unclear, though he will certainly miss Saturday’s Premier League trip to Arsenal (5:30pm kick-off).
The Daily Mail have reported that Livramento is set for a second scan to determine the full extent of his injury with the ‘best case scenario’ seeing the full-back return for the final couple of games.
While it could end his season prematurely, the thigh issue is unlikely to impact Livramento’s availability to represent England at the upcoming 2026 World Cup in North America this summer, though his recent fitness issues could impact whether he is selected or not.
Livramento missed out on the previous England squad due to injury, but has since struggled with his form at club level.

‘A big blow’ for NUFC
Reflecting on Livramento’s injury after the Bournemouth defeat, Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe said: “Yeah, for Tino, that's a huge blow for him, but for us, I actually thought he, in part, with Kieran's introduction at the beginning of the second half, made us stronger, and then losing him was a big blow.”
Livramento’s absence could see Kieran Trippier back in at right-back while Lewis Miley is also an option having played there earlier in the season. Emil Krafth has been ruled out for the remainder of the campaign.
Krafth is out of contract in the summer and may have already played his final game for the club if not offered a new deal. Meanwhile, Livramento has been linked with a summer exit himself.
Tino Livramento’s future at Newcastle United
Livramento has been linked with a move to Manchester City, but interest has cooled amid concerns over his fitness and availability.
Newcastle have been keen to tie the defender down to a new deal at St James’ Park but progress has been limited.
Sporting director Ross Wilson namechecked Livramento as one player the club would look to secure to a new deal with his current contract set to expire in 2028.
