Pep Guardiola shares instant response to Liam Rosenior being sacked by Chelsea

Pep Guardiola has admitted he feels sorry for Liam Rosenior after Chelsea made the decision to sack the manager following their defeat to Brighton.

Chelsea parted ways with Liam Rosenior off the back of five consecutive defeats in the Premier League, all without the Blues finding the net.

The Chelsea players were beginning to get sick of Rosenior and his tactics, and seemed to be completely ignoring him during the defeat to Brighton.

The Englishman was only in the job for three months, and is a brutal reminder of how BlueCo are absolutely ruthless when it comes to managers who are underperforming.

Pep Guardiola made it clear he felt sorry for the former Chelsea boss, telling HaytersTV that it reminds him how lucky he was that he gets the backing he does at Manchester City.

He said: “I’m so sorry. I’m pretty sure he’s a manager for that level. Always when this happens, always I think about how lucky, again, I am being in the club where I am. I picked the right club 10 years ago, with an incredible hierarchy, incredible CEOs and Sporting Directors.

“Unbelievable. The consistency, the trust with the people I’m working with here, it’s amazing. I’m so lucky. The decision [of Chelsea] is not my concern…”

The Blues are going to have Calum McFarlane in charge for the rest of the season. His current sole point earned in the Premier League was against Guardiola’s City.

Candidates starting to emerge for Chelsea job

Behdad Eghbali is reportedly keen to bring Andoni Iraola in as the new Chelsea manager, likely leaning into the fact he has Premier League experience under his belt.

Marco Silva is another name linked with the job. His contract with Fulham is set to expire at the end of the season.

Despite the fact Chelsea fans would love him to come in, Cesc Fabregas has no desire to take over at Stamford Bridge as he continues to thrive at Como.

Chelsea are not in any rush to bring in a new manager, however will be under immense pressure to get this decision right.
