Manchester City focus on Mexican market
The Citizens are owned by the City Football Group, who have several clubs in their stable. This includes New York City FC, Girona, Troyes and others.
Pumas UNAM manager Efraín Juárez worked with the MLS side as an assistant between 2020 and 2022.
He’s confirmed that Manchester City owners have already asked him about a few players for both their youth and first teams. Record in Mexico have relayed his comments.
“Because of my relationship with the group, I worked there for three years. It’s the biggest football group in the world,” he said.
“I heard they were coming. They asked me about a couple of players, both from the youth academy and those currently on the first team, who are already thinking about how they can strengthen their squads with their ten or twelve teams worldwide.
“They have that ease and clarity. With such a large group, that always happens. I’ll greet them tomorrow; we’ll definitely greet them.
“On Thursday, I’ll see if I can have dinner with them. They’ll ask me questions. They’re going to watch a couple of matches, not just ours, but also some from the Mexican league. They’re coming to watch games; that’s what they do.”
No mention of details of players
Efraín Juárez didn’t confirm the players that the Manchester City owners are looking at or are on their agenda.
