Chelsea star's brutal nickname for Liam Rosenior has emerged after his sacking - report

Liam Rosenior was sacked by Chelsea on Wednesday afternoon after just three months in charge.

The 41-year-old was appointed as head coach in January, signing a six-and-a-half year deal. His tenure got off to a good start as he won six of his first seven matches in charge.

However, following a five-match losing streak, a run where Chelsea haven't scored a single goal, Rosenior has now been relieved of his duties. He will receive in the region of £4m due to an exit clause in his contract.

A statement from the club read: "Chelsea Football Club has today parted company with Head Coach Liam Rosenior.

"On behalf of everyone at Chelsea FC, we would like to place on record our gratitude to Liam and his staff for all their efforts during their time with the Club.

"Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.

"This has not been a decision the Club has taken lightly, however recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season. Everyone at Chelsea FC wishes Liam every success in the future."

Chelsea Player Had Brutal Nickname For Liam Rosenior

Rosenior was extremely critical of Chelsea's players after his final match in charge, a 3-0 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday evening. Chelsea players weren't too convinced by his management, either.

According to GMS sources, several senior Chelsea players were unhappy with Rosenior's tactics and training sessions, with his overall methods doubted.

Furthermore, his way of attacking his players in post-match interviews was not well received despite the disappointing performances on the pitch.

According to BBC Sport, views within the squad were mixed, but the Spanish-speaking contingent were particularly unconvinced. It is even claimed one player gave him the nickname 'the supply teacher.'

They add that Rosenior began to lose authority as he attempted to implement more of his own ideas, having initially leaned on Enzo Maresca's blueprint during his first six weeks in charge.

Miguel Delaney of the Independent has even claimed that Rosenior was mocked for his decision not to wear his glasses at the training ground. It has been reported that 'one or two even joked about whether it was to look tougher.'

John Terry Shares Feelings on Rosenior's Sacking

Chelsea legend John Terry has shared his thoughts on Rosenior's sacking. Taking to TikTok, he said:

"I sit here worrying tonight about what is going to happen with our football club. Looking at us needing a manager after the weekend, I’m not sure when ownership are going to make a decision and bring a new manager in.

“Is a real top manager going to come to Chelsea Football Club at the moment in the position we are in? Can’t buy players, looking like we are going to have to sell potentially and that will be our best players, which is always tough.

“We will not be playing in European football, I hope I am wrong. Really, really frustrated and worried more importantly. I feel the anger, feel the frustration of the Chelsea supporters.

“We’ve seen this time and time and time again, but maybe the future isn’t as clear as we’ve always seen.”
