Chelsea’s managerial situation has once again become a talking point in the football world, with Spanish outlet Fichajes reporting that Xabi Alonso is being lined up as a potential replacement for Liam Rosenior this summer — but only if he is granted significant control over transfer dealings at Stamford Bridge.
According to the report, CHELSEA’s hierarchy decided to make a change in direction after a turbulent spell under Rosenior, whose future has been under increasing scrutiny following a poor run of results. It is claimed that Alonso, currently regarded as one of Europe’s most promising coaches after impressive spells with Bayer Leverkusen and a brief stint at Real Madrid, has emerged as a leading candidate for the role.
However, the key condition attached to any possible deal is said to be control over recruitment.
