With Andoni Iraola an option to replace Liam Rosenior at Stamford Bridge, his historical praise for Nicolas Jackson could be of new significance.
Andoni Iraola has announced his decision to step away from Bournemouth when his contract expires this summer. His 2025–26 campaign has been nothing short of remarkable, guiding the Cherries to a sustained push for European football and recording a 2-1 away victory over league leaders Arsenal.
Under his stewardship, Bournemouth has evolved into one of the most intense sides in the Premier League, characterised by a league-leading aggressive press.
Liam Rosenior worked desperately to try and get the press going at Chelsea, but it just never worked. So with Iraola, you’re getting more of a proven system that has worked in the Premier League.
And Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson could play a huge part in that.

Andoni Iraola is a big fan of Nicolas Jackson
Andoni Iraola has already spoken highly of Nicolas Jackson ahead of Chelsea’s clash with Bournemouth back in 2023, potentially opening the door is he does take charge (Bournemouth Echo).
“I faced him with Villarreal. He is a very, very good player. He has the threat with his speed to attack the spaces. But he is very good also when he receives, turns and attacks one against one.
“I think he will provide not only the goals, but a lot of chances. He will work well with the other forwards. I think he is a really good player.”

Nicolas Jackson’s future at Chelsea as it stands
Jackson is warming to the idea of going back to Chelsea and remaining there for the 2026/27 season.
However, it is claimed that Jackson will not hold talks about his future until after the World Cup.
Pundits like John Obi Mikel have already pushed a potential return, seeing it as a way to unlock Cole Palmer, who formed a formidable partnership with him at Chelsea.
