**[Sunderland](https://sportwitness.co.uk/sunderland/) manager Régis Le Bris is ‘absolutely not a candidate’ to replace Liam Rosenior at Chelsea.**
[Journalist Sacha Tavolieri reports](https://x.com/sachatavolieri/status/2047343962667483504) that the French coach is happy at Sunderland and there is no desire by either to part at this moment in time.
Chelsea manager search
----------------------
Chelsea are on the hunt for a new manager after sacking Liam Rosenior this week. Reports have already named a long list of candidates, with several in the Premier League already.
Regis Le Bris can be found among some, but Tavolieri insists that he is not a target. He states that while the Sunderland manager is on Chelsea’s shortlist, he is ‘absolutely not a candidate’ for the job.
He then adds that Le Bris is currently happy at Sunderland. According to his information, the Black Cats want to keep him, and the French coach is keen to stay and continue their ongoing project.
That is the opposite of reports this week. They had stated that Le Bris could lose his job this summer if Sunderland fail to secure European football. It has since been widely dismissed, and Tavolieri continues that trend.
Sunderland in safe hands
------------------------
It is easy to imagine that Regis Le Bris would be on Chelsea’s list given the work he’s done at Sunderland so far.
He took over the Black Cats in the Championship and has since led them to promotion to the Premier League. They now sit 11th in the table, having defied the odds this season.
Many had predicted a relegation battle but instead Le Bris and his side have never been a part of that conversation. The fact they’re only three points from seventh is a further testament to how good they’ve been.
The French coach has offered stability, noticeable improvement year on year and the kind of tactical nous that his current Chelsea squad would benefit from. But it appears that, despite being on their shortlist, the Sunderland manager won’t be heading to Stamford Bridge.
