Opinion: The Man City player Everton should try to sign with Jack Grealish - and it isn't John…

Everton need a big summer if they are to push on – and one position that’s high on the agenda is a new forward.

This season we’ve seen Everton struggle in the final third at times.

While Beto is now one of the most in-form players in the Premier League, he has struggled to show consistency on the whole at Everton.

Which of these players do you want to see Everton SIGN in 2026?

The following names have been suggested by fans on TalkingPoints…

And Thierno Barry had a decent purple patch at the start of the year, but has struggled to kick on and is now facing a new wave of criticism from fans.

Everton need to sign a player of substantial quality to lead the line.

That will be the difference between being a good side and a great one – and potentially help fire Everton to Europe.

And there is a case to be made for Everton going after Omar Marmoush this summer.

Everton want to sign Jack Grealish this summer. The club would take him back on loan, or sign him permanently if they could reach a new agreement with Manchester City, after his injury derailed his season.

But he’s not the only City player David Moyes should be going after.

Omar Marmoush made a fantastic start to life at City after he joined them in January 2025, but has rather sunk into the shadows at the Etihad Stadium in recent times.

It’s a difficult gig for him, because he’s got Erling Haaland ahead of him – and the Norwegian sensation is going to play every game he’s available for.

This season, Marmoush has made 30 appearances but for just 1151 minutes on the pitch. that averages out at just 38.3 minutes per game.

He’s mostly come off the bench this term, and it’s been difficult for him to build rhythm.

Amid Marmoush playing just 60 minutes of Premier League football across City’s last five games, Everton surely have to make some enquiries.

Ultimately, while it’s not a great moment for him right now, he’s still proven himself to be a capable goalscorer in the top-flight.

Appearances – 55 Appearances – 67

Goals – 14 Goals – 37

Assists – 6 Assists – 20

He has eight goals and five assists in 33 Premier League appearances, and for City in total he’s got 14 and six in 55.

And of course before his move to City, he plundered 37 goals in 67 games for Eintracht Frankfurt.

Pep Guardiola said of Marmoush a few months ago (via mancity.com): “He’s a special player, not old, not young but he has margin to improve.

“His dynamic energy and runs are really good.

“I see him more as a striker not a proper winger. He’s a guy for transition actions.”

John Stones has been mentioned as an additional potential signing from City this summer for Everton.

But Marmoush – who’s surely champing at the bit to succeed in English football – really ought to be the player the Toffees go for, as well as Grealish.

Marmoush’s wages may be a stumbling block

It would be some show of intent by Everton if they signed Marmoush this summer.

But undoubtedly it would not be straightforward.

While he would be a guaranteed starter, Everton would likely have to offer the player some form of European football, and that is still touch and go at the moment.

But potentially the biggest stumbling block would be his wages.

Marmoush is thought to take home a whopping £295,000 per week at the Etihad Stadium (via Goal), making the Egyptian one of City’s best-paid players.

For Everton to pull off any move, he may have to agree to a considerable cut.

But perhaps the thought of being the main man at a club that’s on the up and playing in a world-class stadium will appeal, and see him be willing to play for a bit less money to become a part of it all.
